Police Arrest Teen After High-Speed Chase Through Bolton

An 18-year-old man is in custody after leading police on a dangerous pursuit through Bolton when officers discovered he was driving a suspected cloned vehicle with false registration plates.

The chase began late Friday night when Tactical Vehicle Intercept Unit officers spotted the suspicious car on Wigan Road. The driver refused to stop, prompting specially trained police drivers to pursue the vehicle through the streets of Greater Manchester. The suspect attempted to escape on foot after abandoning the vehicle but was quickly apprehended.

Police recovered £4,000 in cash from the vehicle, which was later determined to be unregistered. The teenager was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and money laundering.

Inspector Shafiqur Malik of GMP’s Specialist Operations branch praised his team’s swift action: “The arrest last night highlights the excellent work that goes on behind the scenes every day and night across the force. It showed a dedicated response by officers to apprehend the suspect and I hope this proves that we are successfully able to track, trace and detain those who are blighting our local communities.”

The suspect remains in police custody for questioning as investigations continue.
