Three men arrested and tools seized following proactive stop in Royton
Three men aged 37, 41 and 42 were arrested at 2:35am on Rochdale Road, Royton after police found balaclavas, winches, jamming gear and false plates in their vehicle.
Three men are in custody after police uncovered a cache of burglary tools during a 2:35 a.m. vehicle stop on Rochdale Road in Royton, Oldham, on 9 April 2026.
Officers searching the car recovered balaclavas, winches, jamming equipment, and false number plates. The occupants—aged 37, 41, and 42—were arrested on suspicion of going equipped for theft and remain in custody for questioning.
Detective Inspector Kelly Paterson, from GMP’s Oldham district, praised the early-morning intervention: “This was a great piece of work by officers early this morning, who were able to secure three arrests and potentially prevent any crime from occurring. We are of course investigating all of the circumstances, but this work forms part of our commitment to tackling criminals who would seek to disrupt the lives of the law-abiding public.”
The seized items will be examined as part of the force’s wider crackdown on burglaries, vehicle crime, and robberies through proactive patrols, dawn warrants, and community prevention initiatives.
