Three Arrested in Royton with Burglary Kit Including Jamming Gear and False Plates

A 2.35 a.m. stop on Rochdale Road, Royton, Oldham, today uncovered balaclavas, winches, jamming equipment and false number plates inside a single vehicle, police report. Officers arrested the three occupants—aged 37, 41 and 42—on suspicion of going equipped for theft; all remain in custody for questioning.

Detective Inspector Kelly Paterson, from GMP’s Oldham district, said: “This was a great piece of work by officers early this morning, who were able to secure three arrests and potentially prevent any crime from occurring. We are of course investigating all of the circumstances, but this work forms part of our commitment to tackling criminals who would seek to disrupt the lives of the law-abiding public.”

The seized items will be examined as enquiries continue. The arrests are part of a wider Greater Manchester crack-down on burglary, vehicle crime and robbery involving targeted patrols, dawn warrants and community prevention work.
