Suspected drug dealers arrested by Operation Vulcan in Oldham

Operation Vulcan arrested three men in Derker, Oldham, on suspicion of drug dealing after finding cash, a baseball bat, and suspected THC liquid in their car. The operation has made 22 arrests and seized multiple items in its first three weeks.

Operation Vulcan officers patrolling Derker on Tuesday night spotted an uninsured car and stopped it, Greater Manchester Police said.

Inside the vehicle they found three mobile phones in the footwell containing messages asking “are you still selling liquid?”, a baseball bat and more than £1,000 in cash. A search also uncovered several packages of an unidentified liquid thought to be THC, the force added.

Three men - aged 18, 19 and 21 - were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class B drugs. The 19-year-old was further arrested on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon.

Inspector Dan Cullum said the seizures showed the early impact of Operation Vulcan, which has made 22 arrests, recovered five weapons, taken 13 criminally or anti-socially driven cars off the road and removed significant quantities of drugs since its launch three weeks ago.

He urged anyone with information about drugs or weapons in their community to contact police on 101, use the force’s online Live Chat, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111. Dial 999 in an emergency.
