Stockport neighbourhood officers have new home in Marple

The Stockport East Neighbourhood Policing Team has relocated to Hollins House in Marple, near their previous base at Parkfield Avenue, which is being demolished for the new Marple Community Hub. Chief Inspector Clare Ryle assures the community of continued high-quality service and encourages public engagement. The new hub, developed by Stockport Council, aims to centralize services and maintain a strong police presence. Councillor Helen Foster-Grime highlights the hub's benefits for the community and the importance of police visibility. Residents can stay informed via Bee in the Loop.

Stockport East Neighbourhood Policing Team has relocated from Parkfield Avenue to Hollins House, marking the start of a new chapter for officers serving Marple, Romiley, Bredbury and Woodley.

The move comes as the team’s former base faces demolition to clear the way for Stockport Council’s new Marple Community Hub. The new location sits just yards from their previous station, ensuring minimal disruption to community policing operations.

Chief Inspector Clare Ryle emphasized that the relocation won’t affect service quality. “We may be moving but the community can still expect the same excellent level of service from our neighbourhood officers,” she stated. “We work very closely with our partners at Stockport Council, and we are pleased to be based in the centre of their new hub for Marple.”

Ryle stressed the importance of public cooperation in maintaining community safety. “If people come to us with information or concerns then we will investigate and, where appropriate, take action. Intelligence from the public is a vital tool in our fight against crime - people can also come up and speak to officers when we are out and about in the community.”

Stockport’s three Neighbourhood Policing Teams deploy over 70 officers across the borough, with the East team operating from both Marple and Hazel Grove locations. Residents can reach officers through multiple channels including 101 for non-emergencies, the GMP website, or Crimestoppers confidentially at 0800 555 111.

Councillor Helen Foster-Grime, cabinet member for Communities, Culture and Sport, hailed the move as progress for both policing and community development. “The new Community Hub in Marple is set to be a fantastic development for local people and the surrounding area - creating a welcoming space at the heart of the community,” she said. “Crucially, it also ensures that a strong police presence remains in the area, offering reassurance and support to residents.”
