Seven arrested as Challenger warrants result in seizures of class A drugs, zombie knives and a Breitling watch
Seven individuals were arrested in Manchester during a police operation targeting organized crime, resulting in seizures of class A drugs, zombie knives, and a Breitling watch. The operation, part of GMP's Operation Challenger, was conducted across Longsight, Ardwick, and Northmoor, following intelligence from a firearms incident in 2023.
Police arrested seven people and seized £10,000-worth of class-A drugs during a series of dawn raids across Longsight, Ardwick and Northmoor on Tuesday.
Greater Manchester Police’s Operation Challenger unit, supported by the Tactical Aid Unit, executed ten warrants shortly after 06:00 GMT.
Officers recovered suspected heroin and cocaine, two zombie knives and an £1,800 Breitling watch.
Three men in their twenties, a man in his forties, a woman in her thirties and two teenagers were held on suspicion of supplying class-A drugs. All seven remain in custody for questioning.
The raids form part of a wider investigation launched in September 2024 after a firearm was discharged outside a Manchester music venue the previous December.
Detective Inspector Christopher Woodburn said the operation targeted “organised crime groups blighting our communities” and warned that enquiries would continue.
He urged residents to report suspected criminal activity via 101, the force website or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
