Quinn urges fans to join Oldham's charge
Oldham chairman Bill Quinn urges fans to increase attendance at Boundary Park to support the team's push for success, following a strong 50-4 win against York Knights. The club aims to grow its fanbase to enhance performance and club development, with an exciting announcement for Oldham RL fans expected next week.
Oldham Chairman Demands Bigger Crowds After 50-4 Rout
Chairman Bill Quinn has issued a rallying cry to Oldham supporters, demanding they fill Boundary Park after just 1,525 fans witnessed the Roughyeds’ stunning 50-4 demolition of York Knights in their Betfred Championship return.
The emphatic victory over much-fancied York on Sunday marked a dream start to the season, but Quinn insists the players deserve better support as they prepare to host historic rivals Batley Bulldogs this weekend.
“I was watching the team, the performance and thinking of everybody who has worked to get to that point,” Quinn tells The Boundary Line, on Roughyeds TV. “The players, the coaches, the medical staff, everybody. I went home on Sunday and thought I should be sat here so happy - and I am - but these players deserve more than 1,500.”
Head coach Sean Long echoed his chairman’s sentiments, urging fans to experience the matchday atmosphere firsthand. “We put in one of our best performances since I have been here and we want more fans to come down and experience the whole event of gameday,” Long said. “We want more fans, they are loud enough with 1,500, so imagine what it would be like with 5000! That would be different gravy and the lads would be pumped up even more.”
Quinn also teased major news on the horizon, declaring: “There is going to be an announcement early on next week and we can’t say too much until then. But this is probably the biggest news for any Oldham RL fan since the days of Sheddings. It is really, really exciting.”
Tickets remain available for Sunday’s clash with Batley, with certain hospitality options bookable until Thursday.
