Police step up appeal following now-fatal collision in Failsworth

A 90-year-old woman has died after being hit by a reversing car on Albert Street West in Failsworth on 7 January, and a 37-year-old man arrested on suspicion of driving offences has been released on police bail. Greater Manchester Police are renewing their appeal for witnesses, dashcam or CCTV footage as the Serious Collision Investigation Unit continues its inquiry.

Elderly Woman Dies After Being Struck by Reversing Car in Failsworth

A 90-year-old woman has died from injuries sustained when she was hit by a reversing vehicle on Albert Street West in Failsworth last Wednesday afternoon.

The collision occurred around 3pm on January 7, when the woman was struck by the car. She was transported to hospital in serious condition but succumbed to her injuries yesterday.

Greater Manchester Police confirmed that a 37-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of driving offences and has since been released on police bail.

The Serious Collision Investigation Unit is actively seeking witnesses to the incident. Officers are particularly interested in speaking with anyone who may have seen the vehicle driving before the collision, witnessed the actual impact, or possesses dashcam or CCTV footage of the events.
