Plan for apartments on derelict land refused

A proposal to build 36 affordable apartments on derelict land in Mossley, vacant since 1940, was rejected by Tameside council. The council cited concerns over poor living standards, loss of employment land, proximity to industrial sites, and lack of outdoor space. Developers argued the land was not economically viable for employment and would provide much-needed affordable housing. Despite local councillor support, the plan was refused.
