PEAK DISTRICT NATIONAL PARK AUTHORITY TOWN AND COUNTRY PLANNING

The Peak District National Park Authority has issued a public notice regarding two planning applications (NP/O/0725/0699 & NP/O/0725/0700) for replacing a non-compliant septic tank with a new domestic sewage treatment plant and installing a fresh-water borehole at Lode Clough, Pobgreen Lane, Uppermill. The applications may affect a listed building, and public comments are invited within 21 days.

New Septic System and Water Supply Approved for Uppermill Property

The Peak District National Park Authority has granted planning permission and listed building consent for significant infrastructure improvements at a residential property in Uppermill.

According to planning documents, the approved works involve two key upgrades at Lode Clough on Pobgreen Lane. The first component addresses longstanding sewage treatment concerns by replacing an outdated, non-compliant septic tank with a modern domestic sewage treatment plant. The second element establishes a new reliable water source through the installation of a fresh-water borehole.

These improvements became necessary after inspectors determined the existing fresh-water well suffers from inadequate supply capacity and problematic proximity to the current septic system. The new borehole will provide consistent water pressure while maintaining appropriate distance from wastewater infrastructure.

The application references two separate but related planning permissions: NP/O/0725/0699 and NP/O/0725/0700. Officials confirmed that properties with application suffixes marked “(L)” may impact listed buildings, though this particular site faces no such restrictions.

Environmental assessments indicate the upgraded sewage treatment system will significantly reduce potential groundwater contamination risks compared to the existing outdated equipment. The new borehole positioning complies with all current safety and conservation area requirements.

Installation work is expected to commence within the next several weeks, with minimal disruption anticipated to neighboring properties during the construction phase.
