One place in Greater Manchester looks set to escape Storm Floris according to new update

Storm Floris is set to hit Greater Manchester with strong winds and heavy rain, prompting yellow and amber weather warnings from the Met Office for most areas. However, Stockport may escape the worst of the storm, with only light rain and sunny intervals forecasted, while other boroughs face potential travel disruptions and gusts up to 50 mph.

Storm Floris will batter Greater Manchester from dawn on Monday, yet one borough appears poised to dodge the worst of the tempest.

The Met Office, which named the storm on Friday, has slapped yellow wind warnings on every borough except Stockport, where only light rain and sunny intervals are forecast. Alerts take effect at 6 am on 4 August across Manchester, Salford, Tameside, Trafford, Bolton, Bury, Rochdale and Wigan, while an amber warning—flagging severe impacts—starts at 10 am for Scotland.

Gusts could peak near 50 mph across the warned areas, with a 95 % chance of heavy rain that threatens travel disruption. Stockport, in contrast, is predicted to see merely light rain and bright spells, escaping both the wind warning and the downpours expected elsewhere.
