Oldham speed cameras: Where you can find traffic cameras monitoring the roads
An informative article detailing the locations and types of speed cameras in Oldham, including their distribution compared to other Greater Manchester boroughs, and the legal implications of speeding fines.
Oldham ranks fourth among Greater Manchester’s ten boroughs for fixed traffic cameras, with 27 of the region’s 262 speed, average-speed, red-light and yellow-box devices monitoring its roads, according to data compiled from the 10 councils, recent announcements and the Speeding Fine Calculator database.
The borough, which includes a long stretch of the M62 as well as urban and rural routes, sits above the city-region average despite having fewer cameras than Manchester, Bolton and Stockport. Officers can also set up at hundreds of pre-approved “mobile locations” to enforce limits temporarily.
Drivers caught by any of the devices face a minimum £100 fine and three penalty points; hitting 12 points within three years brings disqualification, while new motorists can lose their licence after six points in their first two years.
