Oldham robberies investigation - man arrested and suspected BB guns seized

Police in Oldham arrested a man in his 20s on suspicion of robbery and seized two suspected BB guns during a warrant on Oban Avenue. The operation involved GMP's Tactical Aid Unit and armed response officers as part of an ongoing investigation into local robberies.

Armed police stormed a house on Oban Avenue, Oldham, shortly after 10.20am Tuesday and arrested a man in his 20s on suspicion of robbery.

Greater Manchester Police’s Tactical Aid Unit backed by armed response officers executed the warrant as part of an ongoing investigation into a spate of robberies across the borough. Specialist teams recovered and seized two suspected BB guns during the operation.

Chief Inspector Ian Partington, of GMP’s Oldham District, said: “We understand that this action may have caused some concern in our communities, but we hope that this arrest goes some way in reassuring residents in Oldham that we are tackling these sorts of offences head on.”
