Oldham outfit Clear Value Trading achieves King’s Award for Enterprise

Oldham-based Clear Value Trading (CVT) has been awarded the King’s Award for Enterprise for International Trade, recognizing its significant growth in international markets, which now account for over 63% of its business. The company has successfully adapted to post-Brexit trade dynamics and expanded its customer base in the Asia-Pacific region.

Clear Value Trading has secured the King’s Award for Enterprise for International Trade after transforming its Oldham wholesale operation into an export-driven business that ships branded toiletries and household goods to discount stores, chemists and online retailers across Singapore, Australia, New Zealand and beyond.

The delivered wholesaler, which sources face wipes, handwash, toothpaste and cleaning products from global manufacturers, now generates 63% of its revenue outside the UK by capitalising on post-Brexit trade shifts and aggressive expansion throughout the Asia-Pacific region. CVT joins 196 other UK organisations recognised this year under the awards programme renamed in 2023 to continue Queen Elizabeth II’s legacy of celebrating outstanding British enterprise.

Director Matthew Sowerby said: “We’re absolutely thrilled to be honoured with a prestigious King’s Award for Enterprise for International Trade. Our team has worked hard to grow our market outside the UK for many years, but it is particularly pleasing to have been able to do so and exceed our goals during an uncertain period for global trade.”

The company overcame fierce price sensitivity in domestic and international markets where SMEs lack the purchasing power of retail giants, achieving sustained growth since its formation while supplying convenience stores, newsagents and large retail chains throughout the UK and worldwide. Successful recipients of the country’s most prestigious business honour, now in its 59th year, may display the esteemed King’s Awards Emblem for five years.
