The victory highlights the club's tradition of producing champions through world-class coaching and dedication.

Saul Griffith has claimed the Junior National 80kg title for Oldham Boxing and Personal Development Club, defeating Osin Laughlin from Walcott Boxing Club in the final at Wigan rugby ground.

The victory adds another national championship to Oldham Boxing’s collection, with Griffith overcoming the skillful southpaw despite having fewer than ten contests to his name. The young boxer demonstrated exceptional boxing IQ, composure and determination to handle his awkward opponent with confidence throughout the match.

Griffith’s triumph continues Oldham Boxing’s remarkable tradition of producing champions regardless of their experience level. The club has consistently developed national title winners with limited ring time, proving that world-class coaching, dedication and the right mindset can overcome any obstacle.

The national title has earned Griffith a call-up to the England Junior team, setting him on a path toward representing his country and progressing into the Team GB programme. Head coach Eric Noi credited the achievement to “the dedication of the coaches who give their time and energy every day to support young athletes, as well as the sponsors who help keep the club running,” offering special thanks to Mahdlo and Positive Steps for hosting the team during gym refurbishment.
