Oldham bar commits to working with Pennine Mencap for 12 months
Molino Lounge in Oldham has partnered with Pennine Mencap, a local charity supporting adults with learning difficulties, for a 12-month fundraising initiative. The collaboration includes planned events and a staff bike ride to raise funds and awareness. Both Molino Lounge and Pennine Mencap emphasize the importance of local charity support and community engagement.
Molino Lounge in Oldham has committed to a year-long fundraising partnership with local charity Pennine Mencap to support adults with learning difficulties.
Chloe Buckley, who organizes community events for the popular bar, said she specifically chose to work with the smaller, local charity to ensure every penny raised would make a tangible difference. “This is my first year running community events for Molino Lounge,” Buckley explained. “And I wanted to choose a small local charity to fundraise for. Pennine Mencap do fantastic work with adults who have learning difficulties. Every penny we raise will support their work, and we have some exciting events planned.”
The partnership kicked off with a staff bike ride that got employees involved while raising money for the cause. Buckley has been actively promoting the events on social media, creating what she describes as an “interactive environment” where customers feel part of the Molino Lounge team.
Maddison, communications officer at Pennine Mencap, praised the collaboration: “It’s a great opportunity and helps shine a light on what Pennine Mencap do as a charity and this enables the people we help to do more, which is really important as the local charities should be known in the community, especially this one. A lot of people don’t know what Pennine Mencap are or what they do, and this is a great way of showing that support and raising awareness for this charity.”
The charity representative noted that displaying information about Pennine Mencap at Molino Lounge is particularly valuable given the venue’s popularity in Oldham, providing a platform to discuss the charity’s work and raise awareness among patrons.
