Ninth person arrested after Shaw Road firearms incident
Greater Manchester Police have arrested a ninth person in connection with a firearms incident on Shaw Road in Oldham, where an 18-year-old man was seriously injured. A 22-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder and assisting an offender. The victim is in stable condition, and police continue to investigate.
Ninth Suspect Arrested in Oldham Shooting Investigation
A 22-year-old man was arrested Monday on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder and assisting an offender in connection with a firearms discharge that left an 18-year-old seriously injured on Shaw Road, Oldham, on January 16, 2025.
The arrest by Greater Manchester Police’s Force Critical Wanted Unit, supporting the Major Incident Team, brings the total number of arrests to nine. One person has been charged while seven others remain on bail as the investigation continues. The victim is currently in stable condition.
Detective Chief Inspector Charlotte Whalley, Senior Investigating Officer, stated: “We are continuing to make progress in this complex and large investigation, and I hope that hearing of a further arrest reassures the public about the seriousness of which we are treating it. Local officers have continued to give reassurance to the community and maintain a visible presence as enquiries have continued. Our appeal for any information about this incident remains live, and we encourage anyone who knows anything, and hasn’t previously been in touch with us, to come forward.”
