Ninth person arrested after firearms incident in Oldham on Thursday 16 January 2025

A ninth arrest has been made in connection with a firearms incident on Shaw Road in Oldham on 16 January 2025, where an 18-year-old man was seriously injured. The 22-year-old suspect was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder and assisting an offender. One of the eight previous arrests has been charged, while the other seven have been bailed. The victim remains in stable condition. Police are continuing their investigation and urging the public to come forward with any information.

Ninth Arrest Made in Oldham Shooting Investigation

A 22-year-old man was arrested Monday on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder and assisting an offender in connection with a firearms discharge that left an 18-year-old seriously injured on Shaw Road in Oldham.

The arrest, made by officers from the Force Critical Wanted Unit supporting the Major Incident Team, brings the total number of arrests to nine since the January 16 shooting. The victim remains hospitalized in stable condition.

Among the eight previous arrests, one person has been charged while seven others have been bailed as the investigation continues.

Detective Chief Inspector Charlotte Whalley, Senior Investigating Officer, stated: “We are continuing to make progress in this complex and large investigation, and I hope that hearing of a further arrest reassures the public about the seriousness of which we are treating it. Local officers have continued to give reassurance to the community and maintain a visible presence as enquiries have continued. Our appeal for any information about this incident remains live, and we encourage anyone who knows anything, and hasn’t previously been in touch with us, to come forward.”
