Crackdown on Crime Launches in Little Hulton with 25 Arrests in First Month

A major crime-busting operation targeting organised crime and anti-social behaviour has begun in Little Hulton, with police officers joining forces with local housing officials and Salford City Council to deliver results for the community.

The operation, which started at the beginning of the year, has already seen 25 arrests for offences ranging from firearm possession to drugs and bail violations. Officers conducted 52 stop-searches, executed multiple warrants, and gathered numerous pieces of intelligence. Nearly 100 weapons have been seized through knife amnesties in the area.

Specialist officers from the Programme Challenger team are supporting the project as part of the partnership response to serious and organised crime. The initiative focuses on four key objectives: prevent, protect, prepare, and pursue, with the aim of stopping local issues such as drug use and violence before they manifest.

Local council and housing partners are assisting through multiple avenues, including seizing nuisance off-road bikes, shutting down anti-social properties, handing out fines, and engaging with residents to address their concerns. Neighbourhood officers have implemented proactive patrol plans to maximise coverage and ensure hotspots remain constantly targeted.

The operation extends beyond enforcement to community investment, including school and college visits, pop-up stalls, awareness posters, and sports project funding. Intelligence gathering efforts include a Crimestoppers campaign and social media awareness initiatives.

Detective Chief Inspector Gareth Humphreys from GMP’s Salford district stated: “Our operation began at the start of the year and has already seen multiple arrests, countless patrols, door-smashing warrants and other positive outcomes as we continue to disrupt criminality in the area. We know from speaking to residents that they have been affected by issues such as anti-social behaviour, drug use, and nuisance off-road bikes, carried out by a small percentage of people who simply don’t care how much they are ruining other people’s lives.”

Councillor Barbara Bentham, Salford City Council’s Lead Member for Neighbourhoods, Environment and Community Safety, added: “I’m pleased to see the great work taking place in Little Hulton to tackle anti-social behaviour and stop criminals in their tracks. We’ve listened to those living in the area and partners are working together to target those who cause misery and blight the area and bring them to justice.”

The relentless disruption will continue for the coming weeks and months, with plans for more projects, warrants, arrests, and charges. Residents can report information by calling 101, using the Live Chat service at gmp.police.uk, or contacting Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
