Man who sexually assaulted a young girl has been jailed for over a decade

Thomas Noone, a 33-year-old man from Stretford, was sentenced to 10.5 years in prison for sexually assaulting a young girl and an adult woman. The crimes occurred in 2010 and 2014, with the child victim being only 4-5 years old at the time. Noone had a prior conviction for a similar offense in 2016. The victims bravely came forward, leading to his conviction. Greater Manchester Police praised their courage and urged other victims to seek help.

Child Rapist Thomas Noone Jailed for 10 Years After Victims Break Silence

Thomas Noone will spend the next decade behind bars after two brave victims came forward to expose his history of sexual abuse against children. The 34-year-old from Stretford received a 10-and-a-half-year sentence at Minshull Street Crown Court on Monday for sexually assaulting a preschool-aged girl and an adult woman.

The investigation began in 2020 when one victim’s grandfather contacted Lancashire Police about abuse that occurred in Greater Manchester in 2010, when the girl was just four to five years old. This initial report sparked a comprehensive investigation that uncovered another victim who had been assaulted by Noone in 2014. Remarkably, one victim found the courage to speak to police after seeing a press release about Noone, finally breaking her silence about the abuse she suffered as a young child.

Noone, who was already on the sex offenders register indefinitely after receiving a three-year prison sentence in 2016 for sexually assaulting a girl under 13, denied all charges. He pleaded not guilty to the new accusations but was convicted by a jury of two counts of sexual assault by penetration against a minor and one count of sexual assault against an adult.

Detective Sergeant Louise Haslam praised the victims’ courage, stating: “The acts Mr Noone committed here are nothing short of depraved. He preyed on young girls and exploited their vulnerability due to their age and never took responsibility for his actions, which highlights even more how courageous the victims were to come forward.”
