Man to appear in court after stabbing on Oldham street

A 41-year-old man will stand trial next month after a daylight stabbing on a quiet residential street in Shaw, Oldham, left one person hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
Jason Stewart, who lives on Hawthorn Crescent where the attack occurred, was arrested after emergency services were called to the scene at approximately 2:15pm on August 7. The victim, who has not been identified, was treated for stab wounds that police confirmed were not life-threatening.
Stewart, whose date of birth is July 22, 1984, has been charged with Section 18 assault - the most serious form of wounding offense under English law. He appeared before magistrates and was remanded in custody, with his case now sent to Minshull Street Crown Court where he is scheduled to appear on September 15, 2025.
“A man has been charged following an investigation into an incident in Oldham on 7 August,” a Greater Manchester Police spokesperson confirmed. “Jason Stewart, of Hawthorn Crescent, Shaw has been charged with a section 18 assault. He was remanded in custody and will make a further appearance at Minshull Street Crown Court on 15 September 2025.”
