Man charged following tram assault incident

A 47-year-old man, Robert Stewart, has been charged with assault by beating after allegedly attacking a Metrolink tram staff member in Oldham. He pleaded guilty in court.

Robert Stewart, 47, has been charged with assault after allegedly punching a Transport for Greater Manchester staff member on a Metrolink tram.

The incident occurred when Stewart became abusive and disorderly while traveling on the tram, according to a statement from Oldham Police. Authorities allege that during the disturbance, Stewart struck the TfGM employee in the face.

Stewart appeared in court and entered a guilty plea to the charge of assault by beating against the transport staff member.
