Mahdlo Youth Zone partners with Oldham College for T-Level studies
Mahdlo Youth Zone has partnered with Oldham College to offer T Level Business Foundation students real-world learning opportunities, including working on a creative brief to help achieve Mahdlo's business objectives. Students will develop ideas and marketing strategies, with the best proposals potentially being presented to Mahdlo.
Mahdlo Youth Zone and Oldham College have joined forces to give T Level Business Foundation students a live client brief as part of their course.
The first group of students visited the youth zone this month, where chief executive Lucy Lees outlined Mahdlo’s goals and set a creative challenge linked to the charity’s business plan.
Over the coming weeks the students will research, develop and cost marketing initiatives before pitching their recommendations back to college staff. The most promising concepts may then be presented to Mahdlo’s senior team for possible implementation.
Lees said the project allows learners to “apply classroom theory to a real organisation that serves more than 2,000 young people each year”.
Mike Jackson-Leafield, Oldham College’s programme leader for business and enterprise, said Mahdlo was an obvious partner because “its commitment to Oldham’s young people mirrors our own”.
The collaboration is part of the college’s strategy to embed employer briefs across its T Level programmes, ensuring students finish their courses with portfolios grounded in actual business problems.
