Jeremy Corbyn coming to Oldham as part of new party launch pitch
Former Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn is visiting Oldham on August 28, 2025, to promote his new left-wing political party, tentatively called 'Your Party', which he co-founded with Zarah Sultana. The event, titled 'An evening with Jeremy Corbyn', will be held at the Empire Suite on Westend Street and is ticketed, costing between £2 and £10. The party advocates for wealth redistribution, public ownership of utilities, and an end to arms sales to Israel, and has reportedly attracted over 700,000 sign-ups in its first month. Local residents were previously invited to contribute policy ideas for the party.
Jeremy Corbyn will bring his new left-wing movement to Oldham next week, offering residents a first-hand look at the platform of “Your Party,” the fledgling group he has launched with Coventry South MP Zarah Sultana.
“An Evening with Jeremy Corbyn” is scheduled for Thursday, 28 August at the Empire Suite on Westend Street, Westwood. Tickets range from £2 to £10 and are being marketed by organisers Oldham Welcomes Corbyn as “your chance to hear Jeremy Corbyn talk about YourParty in Oldham. An opportunity for you to shape the future.”
The Islington North MP is expected to outline the party’s call for wealth redistribution, public ownership of utilities and “a demand to an end to all arms sales to Israel.” Although the group has yet to be formally named, sign-ups have reportedly surpassed 700,000 in its first month.
In a joint statement published on the movement’s website, Sultana and Corbyn said:
“The system is rigged when 4.5 million children live in poverty in the sixth richest country in the world.
The system is rigged when giant corporations make a fortune from rising bills.
The system is rigged when this government says there is no money for the poor, but billions for war.”
The talk follows a weekend session in Oldham where residents submitted “six local and six national policies” they want the party to adopt. One attendee, who stressed their group has “no affiliation with YourParty,” said they attended simply to “see what the man has to say.”
