Two men hospitalized with stab wounds after targeted attack in Clayton
Two men suffered stab wounds in what police believe was a targeted attack on Barrington Street, Clayton, around 11:10 p.m. Sunday, prompting a large police presence that will remain in the neighborhood for days.
The first victim, found with serious injuries at the scene, was rushed to hospital where doctors determined his wounds are not life-threatening. Minutes later, a second man arrived at the same hospital with stab injuries detectives say are linked to the initial incident.
A cordon still blocks off part of Barrington Street while forensic teams comb the area for evidence and officers conduct door-to-door enquiries. Additional patrols will patrol Clayton throughout the week to reassure residents.
Detective Chief Inspector Gareth Davies of GMP’s City of Manchester District stated: “We are currently investigating the full circumstances of last night’s shocking incident, and I would urge anyone with any information to please come forward. These acts of violence have no place on our streets and we will be working hard to ensure we find those responsible. However, we do have multiple officers on the scene and in the area for reassurance and they will be able to assist with any queries you may have. This could include CCTV, dashcam, or doorbell footage from around the time of the incident and captures something that looks suspicious.”
