How many gifts and trips Greater Manchester MPs have had since the election

Greater Manchester MPs have received gifts and trips worth almost £40,000 since the last General Election, with 15 MPs declaring such benefits while 12 declared none. Notable declarations include Deputy PM Angela Rayner's £350 charity dinner and various sports event tickets. Nationally, MPs received £1.3 million in gifts and trips, with Nigel Farage being the top beneficiary at £100,038. Prime Minister Keir Starmer declared £17,344 in gifts, including Arsenal football tickets.

Greater Manchester MPs have declared almost £40,000 worth of gifts and hospitality since last July’s general election, according to the official Register of Members’ Financial Interests.

Fifteen of the region’s 27 MPs logged benefits ranging from sports tickets to overseas trips, while 12—including Culture Secretary Lisa Nandy—reported nothing at all.

Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner, who represents Ashton-under-Lyne, declared £350 for attending a charity dinner. Other entries include match-day tickets for football, rugby and cricket fixtures, a seat at the World Darts final, a day at Haydock races and foreign travel—one trip as far as Taiwan.

Across the UK, MPs have accepted £1.3 million in gifts and overseas visits since the election. The register lists 454 UK-sourced gifts worth £477,593 and foreign trips valued at £786,715, funded by governments, think tanks and private individuals.

Clacton MP Nigel Farage tops the national table, recording benefits worth £100,038. His costliest items were two US visits bank-rolled by party donor Christopher Harborne: £32,836 for a trip to “support a friend who was almost killed and to represent Clacton on the world stage”, and £27,617 to attend Donald Trump’s inauguration. Farage has declared five fully funded US trips in total, plus a £15,277 journey paid by George Cottrell for a “personal meeting”, a £4,362 speaking slot courtesy of the New York Young Republicans Club and £280 hospitality from CPAC. Additional gifts include an £8,413 helicopter flight funded by JC Bamfort Excavators and £2,000 ringside seats for the Derek Chisora-Joe Joyce boxing bout.

Former Conservative leadership contender Tom Tugendhat has accepted £34,916 in benefits, including £12,404 for a Hudson Institute conference in the United States and £9,997 for a policy dinner hosted by Todd Ricketts.

Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer is the largest recipient of UK hospitality, declaring £17,344 in gifts. An Arsenal season-ticket holder who now sits in the directors’ box for security reasons, he has accepted £11,170 worth of match tickets over the year. Other declarations include Universal Music and Football Association tickets to see Taylor Swift and the loan of clothing for his wife.

The figures exclude legal-cost donations and any gifts received before the election that were declared later.
