Here's the full list of Bee Network bus and Metrolink tram tickets after bosses announce fare shake-up

Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) has announced a fare shake-up for Bee Network buses and Metrolink trams, introducing new multi-modal passes and a 'tap-in, tap out' payment system starting March 23, 2025. The changes aim to simplify and make public transport more affordable.

New Multi-Modal Passes Launch March 23 for Greater Manchester Transit

Transport for Greater Manchester will revolutionize public transit next month with the launch of new multi-modal passes that combine bus and tram travel for as little as £2.75 per day.

The passes, available from March 23, will allow passengers to purchase monthly or annual tickets covering both Bee Network buses and Metrolink trams. Annual passes start at £1,005 for bus travel plus one Metrolink zone, with the most comprehensive bus and all-zone tram pass costing £1,496.

Passengers struggling with the upfront cost of annual tickets can spread payments through a Credit Union, making weekly or monthly repayments instead of paying the full amount at once.

The launch coincides with the introduction of a new ‘tap-in, tap-out’ system across the Bee Network. Travelers will be able to scan their bank card or phone on Metrolink platforms or aboard buses, with the system automatically charging the lowest applicable fare at day’s end.

“These are the latest steps in a continuous programme of work to deliver better and more joined up public transport through the Bee Network for the people and businesses of Greater Manchester,” said Vernon Everitt, transport commissioner for Greater Manchester. “These new fares and simple ‘tap and go’ payment with daily and weekly fare caps are making public transport more convenient and affordable and are core to our aim of encouraging more people to use our services.”

The new system builds on the recent introduction of the ‘hopper’ bus ticket, which permits unlimited bus transfers within an hour of the initial fare payment. Daily caps for combined bus and tram travel range from £5.40 for off-peak single-zone travel to £9.50 for all-zone anytime travel, with weekly caps reaching £41 for comprehensive coverage.
