Police Arrest Four More After Violent Car Chase Through Heywood
Police swooped on three Rochdale addresses at dawn today, arresting four men over a violent vehicle clash that saw a BMW and Audi deliberately rammed while weapons were brandished on Prospect Street, Heywood, last Sunday night.
The 10:05 p.m. disturbance on 5 April began when the white BMW 1 Series and grey Audi A3 sped towards each other, colliding repeatedly as the Audi’s occupants allegedly pursued the BMW while armed. One BMW passenger suffered minor injuries before both cars were dumped nearby on Hind Hill Street and Aragon Drive.
A first suspect was arrested that night and bailed; week-long enquiries identified five more. This morning’s raids in Heywood, Rochdale and Middleton netted four men in their 20s for violent disorder, with two also held on suspicion of possessing Class A and B drugs with intent to supply. A fifth suspect is still wanted.
Detective Superintendent Richard Hunt, Rochdale Police, warned: “Over recent days, my officers and the wider team have been working around the clock to gather evidence and identify those responsible for this violent disorder. This was a shocking incident involving vehicles and weapons, which put members of the public at risk. Let me be absolutely clear, this kind of behaviour will not be tolerated in Rochdale or in the community of Heywood. We are pursuing all available lines of enquiry and will take robust action against those involved. If you were part of this, we will identify you and you will be held accountable. Our priority remains the safety of the public, and we will continue to have a visible presence in the area to provide reassurance and prevent further incidents.”
