Five arrests and a loaded firearm seized as police smash Manchester drugs ring
Police stormed multiple properties across Manchester this morning in a series of dawn raids that netted a loaded gun and large quantities of class A and B drugs. Officers from South Manchester Challenger executed the warrants at 8am Thursday, 23 January 2025, with support from the Tactical Aid Unit, Regional Crime Unit and other Challenger teams.
Four men and one woman aged between 22 and 37 were arrested on suspicion of supplying class A and B drugs and remain in custody. The raids uncovered drugs at several addresses along with what police described as a “loaded and viable firearm” - all of which has been seized.
Detective Constable Helen Rutter of South Manchester Challenger Team said the operation came after intelligence from the community combined with “meticulous investigation and proactive policing”. She urged residents to keep reporting concerns: “Every bit of information, no matter how small, contributes to our investigations across Greater Manchester.”
The investigation continues as officers appeal for anyone with information about drug dealing or other criminal activity to contact police via LiveChat, speak to neighbourhood officers, or call Crimestoppers anonymously.
