Festive fun at school’s Christmas Fair

The Oldham Academy North (TOAN) hosted its annual Christmas Fair, offering festive activities like crafting, cookie decorating, karaoke, and food stalls, with special guest Fred the Red from Manchester United. The event aimed to strengthen community ties and was the academy's busiest yet.

E-ACT The Oldham Academy North overflowed with festive spirit last week as hundreds of residents packed its annual Christmas Fair, making it the academy’s most crowded celebration to date.

The December event transformed the school into a winter wonderland where visitors crafted personalized Christmas cards and ornaments, designed custom t-shirts and tote bags, and assembled colorful bracelets and phone charms. Cookie and gingerbread decorating stations drew long lines of both children and adults, while a karaoke room echoed with holiday classics throughout the evening.

Traditional carolers serenaded guests between bites of Dutch pancakes and candy floss, as steaming cups of hot chocolate warmed hands against the winter chill. Manchester United mascot Fred the Red made a surprise appearance, posing for photographs with delighted young football enthusiasts.

Local primary school families joined the festivities this year, part of TOAN’s initiative to strengthen neighborhood bonds. “It was wonderful to see so many families, friends, and pupils coming together for our Christmas Fair,” Headteacher Jess Giraud said. “Events like this are a fantastic way to bring the community closer and spread some holiday cheer.”
