Eleven arrested with drugs and weapons seized across multiple morning warrants in Manchester

Eleven individuals were arrested in Manchester during early morning raids targeting gang-related criminal activity. Officers seized Class A and B drugs, weapons, and suspicious items from seven addresses in Gorton and Openshaw. The operation aims to disrupt gangs, prevent violence, and address issues like drug supply and exploitation of young people.

Eleven Arrested in Manchester Dawn Raids Targeting Gang Crime

Police stormed seven addresses in Gorton and Openshaw at 6am today, arresting eleven people and seizing drugs, knives, and other suspicious items in a major operation against gang-related crime.

Nine males and two women aged between 16 and 28 were taken into custody on suspicion of offences including possession with intent to supply Class A drugs and assault. Officers from the local neighbourhood team and Tactical Aid Unit conducted thorough searches of each property, recovering quantities of class A and B drugs alongside an arsenal of weapons.

The raids form part of a wider crackdown following recent violent incidents in Manchester, including the shooting of a teenager in October. Local councillors observed the operation, which aims to disrupt criminal networks, prevent further violence, and tackle associated problems including anti-social behaviour and the exploitation of young people.

Inspector Dan Pickavance from GMP’s North Manchester neighbourhood team said: “We simply will not tolerate incidents which see young people being left with devastating injuries, lifelong issues, and being trapped in a vicious cycle from which they struggle to break out of. Our work today is designed to stop exactly those things. We want to get people who we suspect of crime off the streets, seize deadly weapons, and get drugs out of supply before they end up in the hands of vulnerable people.”

Police confirmed further arrests and charges are planned as the operation continues. Anyone with information can contact police via 101, gmp.police.uk Live Chat, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
