Dovestone Sailing Club will welcome newcomers to the sport on May 10 with its annual Open Day, offering 30-minute sailing sessions on Dovestone Reservoir as part of the Royal Yachting Association’s Discover Sailing initiative.
The Saddleworth beauty spot, a popular destination for walkers, will become a gateway to watersports as experienced sailors guide visitors across the reservoir. After their taste of dinghy sailing, participants can enjoy refreshments in the clubhouse included in their booking fee.
Those who discover a passion for sailing can progress through the club’s RYA Dinghy Level 1-2 training courses. Level 1 introduces complete beginners to everything needed for supervised sailing, while Level 2 develops confidence and skills to become competent sailors in light winds.
Bookings for taster sails can be made through the club’s website, with full details sent by email. For more information, contact [email protected] or speak to club members on the day.
