Dawn raids uncover drug den in Farnworth

Neighbourhood officers in Bolton conducted a dawn raid at Century Lodge in Farnworth, uncovering a suspected cannabis farm with 20-25 plants worth over £10,000. The electricity supply had been bypassed as part of a sophisticated setup. An investigation is ongoing to locate the known suspect, and the drugs will be dismantled, seized, and destroyed. Sergeant Jess Prudence emphasized the importance of community reporting to combat drug-related crime.

Bolton police uncovered a cannabis farm worth more than £10,000 during a dawn raid on Century Lodge Wednesday, seizing 20-25 plants from the loft and discovering the electricity supply had been illegally bypassed in what officers described as a “sophisticated setup.”

Officers forced entry to the property after receiving intelligence and conducting additional enquiries, locating the haul growing under heat lamps with the power diverted around the meter. The suspect, known to police, remains at large as detectives continue their investigation.

Sergeant Jess Prudence from the Bolton Town Centre team said the warrant demonstrated how officers act on community intelligence to tackle drug supply. “We know drugs supply has a devastating impact and far-reaching consequences across Greater Manchester, and especially in Bolton we are determined to continue our approach of taking the fight back to the criminals to criminal activity that matters to our residents,” she said.

The plants will be dismantled and destroyed. Police urged residents to report suspicious activity through 101, the force’s Live Chat at gmp.police.uk, or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
