Dare to Know Theatre Launches Free Community Production Open to All Oldham Residents

Oldham theatre company Dare to Know Theatre invites residents to participate in creating an original stage production, with free weekly sessions beginning Thursday at Billingtons in Oldham Centre. The project, which runs through May, welcomes participants aged 18 and over regardless of theatrical experience.

The community-driven initiative seeks actors, writers, directors and backstage crew to collaborate on a new work that reflects local experiences. Weekly Tuesday sessions will move to the Cotton Rooms after the initial meeting, culminating in performances at Shaw Playhouse on May 9 and 10.

Founded in 2020 by Oldham natives Miranda Parker and Jake Talbot, the company specializes in developing theatre that amplifies local voices. “This project is all about bringing people together to create something extraordinary. Whether you’ve acted before or you’re just curious about theatre, there’s a place for you here,” said co-founder Miranda Parker.

The production represents the latest effort by Dare to Know Theatre to engage the community through accessible creative programming. Interested participants can register by contacting [email protected] or visiting www.daretoknowtheatre.com, though spaces are limited.
