Chadderton news

Chadderton couples could win a free wedding, while new growing space and minister visit signal fresh attention to the town.

Chadderton Town Hall will host its first wedding fair on Sunday 25 January, giving couples a chance to plan their big day and enter a draw for a free wedding package. The event marks the latest effort to bring more footfall and new purpose to the Victorian building after years of budget cuts.

Across town, Berries Field Park now has a community growing hub where residents can tend shared plots. Oldham Council teamed up with local partners to open the site in December, aiming to give families without gardens a place to grow food and flowers.

Government minister Alex Norris toured Chadderton last May to see how neighbourhood investment money is being spent. The MP, who oversees local government policy, met council staff to hear which streets and facilities are lined up for improvement.
