Bolton neighbourhood officers uncover more than 200 cannabis plants

Police in Bolton uncovered a cannabis farm with 220 plants and arrested a suspect following a tip-off. The suspect is being held on suspicion of cannabis cultivation, electricity theft, and illegal entry into the UK. The plants will be analyzed, and the electricity issue was resolved. Inspector Keiron Maddocks emphasized the importance of public tips in such investigations and urged residents to report any drug-related concerns. This follows a recent seizure of £500,000 worth of cannabis plants by Greater Manchester Police.

Bolton police uncovered a cannabis farm containing 220 plants during an early morning raid at Blackshaw House, Thornbank North, authorities confirmed Tuesday.

Officers executed a planned warrant at 8:30am following a tip-off from the public, leading to the discovery of the cultivation operation and the arrest of one man who remains in custody on suspicion of cannabis cultivation, electricity abstraction and illegal entry into the UK.

Inspector Keiron Maddocks from GMP’s Bolton South Neighbourhood Policing Team emphasized the importance of community intelligence: “We take any information or intelligence submitted by the public seriously - it plays an important role in our investigations and we will act on it where appropriate.”

The seized plants will undergo forensic analysis while engineers resolved an electricity supply issue at the property. Police encouraged residents to report suspected drug activity by calling 101, using the force’s online reporting tools, or contacting Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
