Oldham RUFC will play in ADM Lancs/Cheshire League 3 next season after a 33-37 defeat to Thornton Cleveleys condemned them to relegation.
The visitors scored three tries in 15 minutes to lead 19-0 at Manor Park before Oldham rallied through tries from Rhys Jones, Louis Fitton, Lewis Ward and Jack Taylor.
Alex Jobson kicked three conversions and three penalties for the home side, who led 27-26 and 30-26 in the second half.
Thornton regained the lead through a charge-down try at 31-30 before Jobson’s penalty made it 33-31.
Two late penalties - for a high tackle and ruck infringement - sealed Thornton Cleveleys’ victory.
Phil Conroy earned Oldham’s Man of the Match award.
