Agreed mobile phone sale was never paid for

Police are appealing for information after a woman in Chadderton sold a mobile phone for £700 but never received payment, as the buyer falsely claimed to have transferred the money via a banking app.

Police have launched an appeal for information after a woman was allegedly defrauded of £700 when selling her mobile phone through social media last month.

The victim had advertised the device online and agreed a £700 sale price with a male buyer in November. The man collected the phone from her property in Chadderton, claiming he had transferred the money via a banking app, but the payment never materialized.

Investigators have now released a photograph of a man they believe may have crucial information about the incident. Officers are urging anyone who recognizes the individual to come forward.

Information can be reported to Greater Manchester Police by calling 101 or using the GMP Live Chat service, quoting log 1132 of 20/11/24. Anonymous tips can also be submitted to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
