Police Arrest 12 in Major Drug Raids Across Northern England

Greater Manchester Police swept through 13 properties Tuesday morning, arresting 12 people and seizing two kilograms of cocaine along with thousands of pounds in cash during coordinated raids targeting Class A drug supply networks.

The dawn operations stretched across Greater Manchester, Lancashire and Cleveland, with officers from the Serious and Organised Crime Group leading the strikes alongside district teams and specialist units. All 12 suspects remain in custody as detectives continue to question them about their alleged roles in two separate drug trafficking investigations.

Detective Superintendent Joe Harrop, who heads the force’s organised crime efforts, described the arrests as “a significant step forward in a multitude of ongoing investigations and operations.”

“We are continuing to make Greater Manchester a hostile place for organised criminals, removing harmful drugs and criminally gained cash from the streets,” Harrop said. “Earlier this year, we launched the region’s first drugs strategy, setting out how we would get to the root cause of drug criminality, take action against drug dealers, and support those impacted by drugs. Activity like today’s shows our commitment to delivering this and making a positive difference for our communities.”

Police urged anyone with information about drug dealing in their area to contact them by calling 101 or using their online reporting tools.
