800 cannabis plants seized following weekend raid in Mossley

Police in Tameside raided a property on Stockport Road, Mossley, discovering a cannabis farm with approximately 800 plants and associated drug paraphernalia. The raid occurred early on Sunday morning, and the electricity was found to have been bypassed. Authorities are continuing their investigation and have urged the public to provide any relevant information.

Police uncovered an illicit cannabis operation with around 800 plants during an early morning raid on a Mossley property, where officers encountered dangerous electrical hazards that sparked as they secured the scene.

The neighbourhood team executed the warrant at 7:05am Sunday on Stockport Road, where they discovered the extensive cannabis farm along with growing equipment and drug paraphernalia throughout the address. Officers found the electricity supply had been illegally bypassed, creating hazardous conditions as sparks flew from the wiring while they made the installation safe.

All drugs and equipment were seized as evidence while detectives launched an investigation into the discovery. The raid represents a significant blow to local drug operations in the Tameside area.

Inspector Rachel Eaton of Greater Manchester Police’s Tameside district praised the operation: “Cracking down on drugs supply across our district is a key aim of our local neighbourhood teams, and we are committed to removing these illicit products off our streets and punishing those responsible. This was a great find for the local team and I know that there will be plenty more positive results in the coming weeks and months.”

Police urge anyone with information about drug activity to contact them via 101 or gmp.police.uk, or anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
