70kg of suspected Class A drugs seized in Oldham

Police in Oldham seized 70kg of suspected Class A drugs (believed to be cocaine and heroin) worth £7 million in street value during raids in Chadderton, Derker, and Glodwick. A 35-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to supply drugs. Authorities emphasized the harm caused by drugs and urged community cooperation in reporting criminal activity.

Police seized £7 million worth of cocaine and heroin during coordinated raids across Oldham yesterday, arresting one man as part of an ongoing crackdown on drug trafficking.

Officers stormed properties in Chadderton, Derker and Glodwick shortly after dawn, recovering approximately 70 kilograms of Class A substances. A 35-year-old suspect was taken into custody on suspicion of conspiracy to supply Class A drugs and remains in police custody for questioning.

Detective Inspector Paul Crompton of Greater Manchester Police’s Serious Crime Division described the operation as “a substantial blow to the criminal networks that plague our communities and destroy lives.” He warned that these substances “cause immeasurable harm - fuelling addiction, driving violent crime, and devastating families across our region.”

The morning raids mark the latest phase in authorities’ efforts to dismantle drug distribution networks operating throughout Greater Manchester. Crompton emphasized that such operations demonstrate “our unwavering commitment to proactive policing and our determination to disrupt drug supply at every level,” while urging residents to report suspicious activity through 101, the force’s website Live Chat function, or anonymously via Crimestoppers at 0800 555 111.
