23-year-old man sentenced to 16 years in prison following shooting in broad daylight in Oldham
A 23-year-old man, Ethan Glasgow-Lattibeaudiere, has been sentenced to 16 years in prison for a shooting incident on Shaw Road in Oldham. The incident occurred in broad daylight, where Glasgow-Lattibeaudiere shot one victim in the back and fired at another, missing but damaging a taxi. He was later arrested in Hulme after a manhunt. Another individual, Brandon Nolan, received a 12-month sentence for possession of a bladed article. The case highlights efforts by Greater Manchester Police to combat gun violence.
Ethan Glasgow-Lattibeaudiere, 23, will serve 16 years in prison after admitting to a daylight shooting on Shaw Road, Oldham, that left one man wounded and a community traumatised.
The violence erupted at 12:30 pm on 16 January 2025 when two men in the back of a taxi spotted Glasgow-Lattibeaudiere, dressed entirely in black and masked, riding a Surron bike in Derker. He tailed the cab, forced it to stop, then stormed the rear doors screaming at the passengers to get out. While one victim leapt onto the abandoned Surron to escape, Glasgow-Lattibeaudiere drew a handgun and shot him in the back. He then turned on the second passenger—who had produced a knife—firing once and missing, the bullet slamming into the taxi before he fled.
Police traced the gunman to a Hulme apartment block and, the following evening, specialist firearms officers stormed the flat. A black Puma man-bag hurled from a window held a silver five-shot revolver loaded with three live rounds; investigators believe the two missing bullets were the ones fired on Shaw Road. Glasgow-Lattibeaudiere was charged on 22 January with two counts of attempted murder, causing grievous bodily harm with intent, attempting to cause grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life. Co-accused Brandon Nolan, 19, received 12 months for carrying the knife.
Detective Chief Inspector Charlotte Whalley said: “Today’s sentencing marks a significant milestone in our ongoing fight against gun violence in Oldham. Glasgow-Lattibeaudiere showed a complete disregard for public safety when he opened fire in broad daylight back in January, endangering not just his intended targets but innocent members of our community who were simply going about their daily lives.”
