Police in Audenshaw seized 150 cannabis plants and related equipment during a raid on Manchester Road, arresting a 59-year-old man on suspicion of cultivation. The operation was part of ongoing efforts to combat drug supply in Tameside.
Police seized 150 cannabis plants from five rooms of a Manchester Road property in Audenshaw early this morning after executing a drugs warrant.
Officers from the Tameside Neighbourhood Team stormed the building at dawn following intelligence gathering, discovering plants at various growth stages alongside extensive cultivation equipment and paraphernalia throughout the premises.
A 59-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of cannabis cultivation and remains in police custody for questioning.
Sergeant Stuart Charlesworth from GMP’s Tameside district praised the operation: “We are committed to combating drugs supply in all its form across our district and I am happy with today’s positive result, which saw more than 150 plants seized. Drugs and the supply of them is a very serious matter and one which we dedicate numerous resources to tackling. Much of our intelligence comes from within communities themselves and I would urge anyone who has any concerns about suspicious behaviour to get in touch with their local neighbourhood team.”
The raid forms part of ongoing efforts to tackle drug supply across Tameside. Residents can report information via 101, the Live Chat service at gmp.police.uk, or anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
