Oldham man jailed for sexually assaulting teenage girl
Tayumur Raja, 29, of Abbey Hills Road, Oldham, was sentenced to nine years in prison for sexually assaulting a 17-year-old girl in September 2021. The victim had left a nightclub and got into what she believed was her booked taxi on Yorkshire Street. Raja drove her to a car park on Park Road where he sexually assaulted her before she escaped to a nearby supermarket. Raja denied the offence throughout, claiming consent, but was found guilty of sexual assault by digital penetration at Bolton Crown Court on March 6, 2026. The victim described how the assault changed her life, making her feel isolated and disconnected, and said she hopes her voice encourages others to come forward.
