Work starts on Tommyfield Park in Oldham town centre
Construction has officially commenced on Tommyfield Park, a new five-acre green space in Oldham town centre delivered by Casey on behalf of Oldham Council. The project transforms the historic Tommyfield Market site, which has served the town for over 200 years, into a fully self-sustaining area designed for biodiversity. Cllr Arooj Shah, Leader of Oldham Council, highlighted the site's deep historical roots and its future role for community gathering. Deputy Leader Cllr Abdul Jabbar MBE confirmed the design prioritises sustainability, responsible energy use, and climate resilience. The historic market previously located here is relocating to a new home inside The Spindles. A flythrough video of the park design is currently available for public viewing. The development marks a significant milestone in the wider regeneration journey for the area.
