Oldham school Path 4 needs improvement in first Ofsted report

Path 4, an independent school in Waddington Street, Oldham, has been told it needs improvement after its first Ofsted inspection. Inspectors judged the school 'needs attention' in six areas: achievement, attendance and behaviour, curriculum and teaching, inclusion, leadership and governance, and personal development and wellbeing. The report found many pupils arrive with low confidence and gaps in basic skills, and that the school has not ensured they develop reading, writing and numeracy as well as they should. Attendance concerns were raised, with the school's work to improve it 'not working as effectively as it should'. Weaknesses in curriculum and teaching were identified, with some staff lacking expertise to address gaps in pupils' fundamental knowledge.
