Don't Trash Oldham clean-up returns 2026

Oldham Council has relaunched its borough-wide clean-up campaign, Don't Trash Oldham, on Wednesday, 12 November 2025, after residents demanded cleaner neighbourhoods. Teams will clear fly-tipping, alleyways and litter hotspots, reusing or recycling waste where possible. Previous drives removed hundreds of tonnes of rubbish; council crews have continued removals since. New resident competitions include Clean Alleyway of the Month and Cleanest Alleyway of the Year, offering prizes and public recognition. Progress will be shared through before-and-after photos and community shoutouts on social media. Council leader Cllr Arooj Shah and neighbourhoods chief Cllr Elaine Taylor say the scheme focuses on areas residents flagged as priorities.
