New Growing Hub Opens at Berries Field Park Oldham
Mayor Eddie Moores and Cllr Abdul Jabbar officially opened a new community growing hub at Berries Field Park in Chadderton alongside Willmott Dixon representatives. The £38,000 project features a polytunnel, timber planters, and a purpose-built structure linked by accessible pathways. Willmott Dixon managed the construction as part of their wider Northern Roots delivery work, contributing over 140 staff volunteer hours. Supply chain partners including Wright Landscapes and Faber Joinery donated materials and time to complete the site improvements. The initiative addresses resident requests for safe growing spaces, specifically citing feedback from women in the community. Cllr Jabbar commissioned the hub to foster wellbeing and sustainability within the existing park infrastructure.
