New specialist care home opens in Oldham creating 60 jobs
A new specialist care home has opened in Failsworth, creating 60 healthcare jobs and providing modern facilities for adults with complex needs. Walton Grove, on Guido Street, officially opened its doors after a major refurbishment of a former nursing home building, with the Mayor of Oldham, Councillor Eddie Moores, performing the opening ceremony.
The home, operated by Exemplar Health Care, offers 40 bedrooms with ensuite wet rooms and two apartments, arranged across four units. Facilities include communal dining and living spaces, a therapy room, beauty room, sensory bathroom, and three accessible gardens. The design follows a small group living model to create a homely, supportive environment.
Mayor Moores praised the care team's dedication and highlighted the importance of specialist services in the community. The home is recruiting for several roles including registered nurses, healthcare assistants, and nurse unit managers, with more information available on the Exemplar Health Care website.
Home manager Dan James emphasized creating a place where residents feel respected and included. The facility aims to support more individuals with complex mental health needs, dementia, neuro-disabilities, and physical disabilities in a setting designed around their specific requirements.
