TravelSafe Oldham: Report incidents on public transport
Greater Manchester's TravelSafe Partnership has launched a new reporting system for Oldham residents to quickly flag safety concerns on public transport. The service lets passengers discreetly report incidents via smartphone using TravelSafe LiveChat or by calling 101, with 999 available for emergencies.
The partnership, which includes police and transport operators, now patrols the Metrolink and bus networks for over 15,000 hours weekly. Their control rooms monitor 3,800 CCTV cameras across the region 24/7, with all trams fitted with cameras and emergency call points at every Metrolink stop.
Oldham residents are being asked to stay vigilant and report suspicious behaviour like unattended bags, unusual photography of security arrangements, or strange conduct. The partnership wants passengers to keep their belongings with them and be considerate of others during journeys.
For incidents at rail stations or on trains, passengers should contact British Transport Police on 0800 40 50 40 or text 61016. The TravelSafe team patrols day and night, seven days a week, aiming to make public transport across Greater Manchester safer for everyone who relies on it.
